Just a very quick update today. I am about to hit a milestone!
When I weighed in this morning, my weight was 250.6 lb. I have not been below 250 since sometime in the mid-1970s. It feels amazing.
I expect that tomorrow or the next day, I will leave the 250s behind, and get into the 240s. I am so happy to be saying that.
I lost a lot of weight in mid-March through mid-April. From the second half of April, through May and into June, I was really stalled out on weight loss, holding steady, or yo-yoing a bit. Maybe up 2 pounds, then down 3 and so on. It is frustrating when you are not eating and not losing weight. Thing is, all along I could feel my body losing fat. I mean, I could feel bones that I had never felt before. I felt that my belly was more “squishy” instead of solid, meaning to me that fat was going away. The pounds were not decreasing, but my body was getting leaner.
Starting around the 2nd week of June and continuing now, I have been dropping pounds pretty rapidly again, and I am sure glad to see that. I think I have a fasting/feasting schedule in place now that will keep the weight loss flowing. Previously, between fasts, I started doing a one meal per day regimen and I believe that is what stalled me out. Now, I am constantly changing things, and hopefully, that will keep the weight loss flowing!

Thanks! I am working hard at the weight loss these days. When I started doing fasting and such it was not about weight loss, it was about reversing diabetes. But, now that I have accomplished that, the weight loss is what it is all about now, and it is really working!
I think you probably know from this site, I follow Dr. Jason Fung pretty closely. He has a lot of expertise about all of this. Recently I heard him on a podcast. He talked about fasting, and he talked about exercise. He said that fasting is for losing fat. Exercise is for gaining muscle. If you are looking to lose fat, don’t worry too much about the exercise, concentrate your efforts on the fasting. If you are looking to build muscle, focus on exercise.
When I heard that it made a lot of sense to me, and I slowed down on exercise and refocused mostly on fasting. Right now, I mostly walk, but not every day. When I refocused like this, I really started losing weight again.

Exactly, Lorne! Maybe even before I reach my target weight. Right now, I am concentrating my efforts on losing fat, though! To be honest, I don’t even know what my target weight is, I have not decided yet. When I get closer I will have a better idea of where I want to be.

I used to have diabetes. I have reverse it now though through a huge change in diet and weight loss. I lost 30 lb in 1 month. So, I’ve been very busy.

The only negative affect this has had on me is how much I despise people selling all this other crap for weight loss, beating around the bush when it really doesn’t have to be as hard as they make it out to be. Thanks I wonder. Well, I still have a long way to go, but I’m really on the right path. You are right fasting is so simple, you just don’t eat! People selling all of these products supplements and everything else to make you lose weight, it’s really a waste of money, because the solution is so simple, at least for me.
