I lived for about 10 years in various parts of Louisiana, in the Southern United States. In the south, biscuits and gravy are almost considered a gourmet meal! It is such a widely eaten dish, and I came to love it a lot when I lived in that part of the country. Very satisfying and also very delicious! But, not very healthy, especially if you are living a keto lifestyle.
The biscuits alone are a high, high carb item, so they have to be avoided. However, the other day I shared how to make some low carb biscuits using either almond flour or coconut flour. These biscuits are almost zero carbs, so they make a great solution! I personally prefer the almond flour recipe, but both are great, try them out to decide which you prefer.
But, what about the gravy? Gravy usually has a lot of flour in it, so that is a big no-no on keto. Is there a solution for that? You better believe it! The video below shows how to make an extremely low carb sausage gravy! And, it only has a couple of ingredients! Sausage, Heavy Cream, Worcestershire Sauce, Salt, and Pepper. That is all very low carb stuff!

You are welcome. Yeah, I am trying to eat nearly zero carbs, so almonds are almost all protein, so it is a good substitute for the flour from wheat!

The low carbs have been working great for me. Weight loss is great, but the main reason I decided to do it was to keep very good control of my diabetes. It is work wonders for that.

A friend told me about keto about a year ago, since then I’ve been watching videos on YouTube, reading websites, that’s what a thing. There are a lot of doctors who are talking about it too. I recommend that you go to YouTube and search for dr. Jason Fung. He is very educated about keto, and also intermittent fasting, which I’m also doing. He’s a great source of information.

By the way, I just want to emphasize, I didn’t start doing the keto diet as a way to lose weight. It is very effective in losing weight, but I was doing it to control my diabetes, which it has done a very good job for. The things that are right or mostly about controlling diabetes, but it will also work well for you for losing weight, in my view. Good luck!

It depends on what doctors you listen to. If you look back at government policy since the nineteen fifties, it is very a heart unhealthy. Much of the new research though is pointing toward this is a much healthier diet for your heart. So, I’m not a doctor, and I’m not going to say it’s healthy or it’s unhealthy. What I can say is that I had a heart attack last year and this is what I’m doing, I believe it’s the best thing for me. I would just check out some doctors see what they’re all saying, and make your own decision.
