In 2017 I lost a lot of weight. It was mostly done through fasting. Extended fasting mostly. I did fasts of 20 days, 15 days, 10 days, and five days at a time. Most of my fasts were either 10 days or five days. I only did one each of the 20 days and 15-day fasts. This led to great health reversals, a feeling of euphoria, and just generally excellent health. In my entire lifetime, I could never say that I had experienced excellent health until last year.
At the end of October 2017, I stopped fasting. I did this for a couple of reasons.
- My wife had been working in Alaska (I live in the Philippines) and she returned home in November. I wanted to spend quality time with my wife, eat some meals with her, etc.
- For many years I have been doing Santa Claus appearances at malls and other outlets, and I wanted to do it for at least one more year. I was still big enough to be very convincing as Santa Claus.
In the past few months, I have done a few fasting, only up to five days at a time. But only a limited number of such fasting. My wife is still here in the Philippines, but she will be leaving next month to go back and work in Alaska were about six more months this year. I have greatly enjoyed having time with my wife while she is been home, and sharing a meal together has really been nice during this time. When my wife goes back to Alaska, it is my serious intention to get back to fasting. I really feel the want and desire to fast again. My feeling is that I will fast five days per week for the foreseeable future. Of course, once I have lost all the weight that I wish to lose I will cut back and probably just do intermittent fasting.
Weight gain
In this past five or six months that I have not been doing much fasting, I have regained some weight. It is not a big amount, though. When you take into account the amount of water weight that you put on when you stop fasting, my weight gain is actually less than about 10 pounds. A good faster too, and this will be gone. It is not something that concerns me greatly.
Once I start fasting again, within only a few months, I believe that I should be at my goal weight. I can’t give an exact number for the goal weight but I’m thinking around 180 pounds. I am a 5’10” male, 56 years old. To be honest, the last time I weighed 180 pounds was when I was in grade school. Because it has been so long, and I have always been obese, it’s really hard for me to know exactly what weight I should strive for. It is something I will have to decide along the way.
So, to sum it up, I am feeling good, I have gained a minimal amount of weight, and I’m looking forward to jumping back on the fasting bandwagon. Do you want to lose weight, if so, join me! Watch this website, and when I’m ready to start fasting again I will let you know, and we can be fasting buddies. Everybody is most welcome. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Bob, I intend to commence some periods of fasting soon. Not to lose weight but to try and stir my stem cells into action to hopefully improve a health problem which has worsened quite a bit since I arrived in the Philippines just over 3 years ago.

Hi Norman. I wish you good luck! Fasting will indeed stimulate the growth of new stem calls! You need to do some extended fasting for that to happen. They say that stem cell growth is very good if you fast for 5 days.

Great job, Bob!
