A LOT of people have kind of chastised me about fasting. The most common negative comment is some variation of “you are going to the extreme” by fasting. “It is not good for you, it is too extreme,” that kind of thing.
Have a look at my latest video on this topic:
Is fasting extreme?
Well, I suppose that in today’s society it is extreme. It is certainly not the norm in today’s way of living. But, in the past, fasting was a regular part of the societal norm.
So, in the eyes of the 2017 man, I suppose that what I am doing is extreme since I do a lot of fasting.
If I was not doing the fasting, I would still be taking a lot of medications, though. Blood Pressure medication. Diabetes medications. Insulin. These medications are chemicals that we put into our body to “cure” us… but really they don’t cure anything, they only mask the symptoms. Think about diabetes. If metformin, or insulin, cured us of diabetes, then after our treatment was complete we could stop taking the drug and be finished with diabetes. But, no… the opposite is what happens. As time passes, we need more Metformin. We need more Insulin. Our dosage has to be kicked up because our disease has become worse.
With fasting, though, I have been able to permanently get rid of the vast majority of the medications that I was taking! And, it is permanent, unless I were to let my health go again. I don’t have high blood pressure anymore. I have said goodbye to diabetes. I feel great.
So, which is more “extreme”? Stopping eating for certain periods of time, or going and buying chemicals and using them in my body every day? I say that Fasting is more natural, more similar to the ways that our prehistoric ancestors took care of themselves. I fast a lot and I find it healthy and makes me feel great.
I’ll stick with fasting, thank you. What do you think?

until your BMI gets below 18 is fine
Bob Martin
Even people with low BMI do fasting! Just not super long term fasting.
Mark LaBelle
yes Bob, just saying below 18 BMI, can fast but best not to do so much you go below 18 or so, might trigger something like anorexia
Bob Martin
Dr. Fung has a saying he uses to those who say fasting might trigger anorexia. He compares the statement to saying that washing your hands might trigger OCD. It is an extreme statement but has a ring of Truth.
Mark LaBelle
so Bob,, generally speaking over time how do you think anorexia is triggered ? it is not by eating 3 square meals a day
Bob Martin
According g to WebMD anorixia is usually eiyheta hereditary thing or a psychological condition.

BMI of 18 is asking for death. There is nothing wrong with intermittant fasting even up to 42 days long.Apart from the weight loss fasting creates the codition that gets your stem cells into action and repairs your body.
Bob Martin
Exactly Fasting for as little as three days will totally regenerate your immune system , and also generate stem cells.
Michael Stevens
I support what you’re doing Bob – I know you’ve researched everything about fasting. It’s unfortunate that you have to deal with critics – that they can criticize you so freely like you don’t know what you’re doing. Keep up the good work & take care of yourself man – that’s all that matters.
Bob Martin
Thank you Michael. I appreciate that. No worries about critics, i’m used to dealing with people like that from my other websites as well.

Fasting is actually a normal condition. Early man did not have a supermarket and 3 meals a day. He/She ate what was captured and it was actually famine or feast. Your digestive tract needs a regular rest to rejuvenate and recharge itself. Even the origins of Breakfast mean to break a fast. the Bible also mentions multiple fast by various Saints and was never mentioned as being negative.
Bob Martin
My point exactly.
