I have reported here on 430ToFit that for about 2 weeks I have been kind of on a plateau when it comes to my weight. Despite doing a lot of fasting, and being very strict about my diet when I do eat, for a couple of weeks, I really have not lost any weight. Sometimes I might lose a pound, then go back up that pound the next day, or a few days later. It has been frustrating, but I also know that this is normal when it comes to weight loss, so I just keep following the path.
Yesterday, I lost a pound, but I was not sure if I would fluctuate back up again. Today, I am down 2 pounds! So, in the past 2 days, I am down 3 pounds. Made me feel really good to see that number on the scale this morning.
I feel that I am approaching a milestone now. Today’s weight was 261 pounds. Back before I started using Insulin, I weighed 255 pounds. That was the lowest weight I had been for many years since I was in High School in fact! Now, I am just 6 pounds away from getting back to that weight! When I was 255 pounds, I really great! Now, I am looking forward to going lower than that!
When I started using insulin, I gained about 70 pounds, no matter how hard I tried to control my weight. Since then, I learned that insulin is a hormone that directs our bodies to store more fat! Now, I am no longer using any insulin, and I am eating (when I do eat) in a way that will cause my body to generate the lowest amount of insulin possible. It is really paying off!
A couple of days ago, I was watching a video by a doctor on YouTube. I wanted to share the video here, but I could not find it! So, I will just explain what I saw.
The lady on the video explained that if you have stopped losing weight, hit a plateau, one of the reasons might be that you are not consuming enough fat in your diet! Over the past month or so, I have been taking in a lot less fat. When I saw this video, I wondered if this might be the reason why I have stopped losing weight.
I used to drink “Bulletproof Coffee” (BPC) twice a day. Now, I never drink it anymore, I just felt that I no longer needed it. Bulletproof coffee is coffee that is made by adding a tablespoon of MCT Oil (Coconut oil is commonly used) and a tablespoon of grass-fed butter. This adds a lot of fat and calories to your coffee.
So, I decided to try drinking BPC again and see if that helped. Sure enough.. since I started back on the BPC, I have lost 3 pounds! We’ll see how that continues, but so far it is looking pretty good!\
I am again, happy with the results I am seeing!
Im confused Bob…help!
Ive read stuff that says if u need to lose weight, dnt drink bpc n instead eat real food.
Your experience tells me otherwise…
There’s a lot of contradictory advice out there, I agree on that. But I would say that you should just do what works for you. Try different things, that’s what I do, and if you find something just do it.
Nothing works at present
Back to tge drawing board.
Have a great weekend buddy.
Just keep trying, it will happen. I had a better two-week stretch with no weight loss, so I know what you mean. You also have a great weekend!
Bob Martin I went from 240 down to 190 in 2014 and had the same problem. Then I had a massive gout attack, when I thought I was in the best shape of my life, since I was in my 20s. Go figure. I know what you mean of being stuck on that weight plateau. I had gone down to 190 two other times in years past and could never hit 189 or less. I was exercising my butt off too, jogging 5-6 miles a day, hundreds of sit ups, working with weights for muscle tone. I wonder why myself…….
Plateaus are very common when it comes to weight loss. Like you, i am just trying to do what I can to minimize them, and it seems to be working so far! ๐
Bob Martin I believe now, if you can get down to a reasonable healthy weight, even if still above what they claim is the healthiest, if you are eating healthy, all your doctor’s tests are good, then don’t worry so much about the weight itself. Did I repeat “Healthy” enough times. Healthy is the key and doesn’t always mean being the perfect weight.
Haha so you discovered that wonderful bullet proof coffee did you. I have been drinking it for almost a year now. I don’t add the butter, only the co. oil, cinnamon, evaporated milk and collagen and blend it up nice and frothy. It is true about eating enough fat. Fat doesn’t make you fat-just consume the right kind and amount. There is genuine science behind this. Congratulations Bob on your milestone.
Oh, I have been drinking bpc off and on for at least a year now, about the same timing as you, Della! ๐ It sure is good. Yes, consuming fat does not make you fat, in fact, it promotes weight loss! Amazing, huh?
Bob Martin it really is amazing yes. It goes against the old mindset-hard to let go. I have a daughter who is a professional body builder. She has won competitions and when i first came upon this way of eating i asked her about it as it really perplexed me. She said ‘of course mom, all of us body builders know about this!’ I had a stroke Sept. of 2015 and was on mega meds. Bad reaction to them and months later thought i would end up in a wheel chair. That’s when i began doing some serious research and took charge of my life. It has been slow but consistent. Inches lost, health restored and fat begone lol. Love this sustainable way of living.
Yes, when it comes to obesity and diabetes, it seems that everything we have been taught in our lifetimes is wrong. I have made so many health improvements by more or less doing the opposite of what we have been taught. Like you, when I started finding out about all of this, I started doing a lot of research. Having had a heart attack last year, I wanted to be careful, but I also wanted to get better. Like you, I wanted to really take charge of my life! I am really loving this new lifestyle! I feel great. Glad to hear that your experiences have been similar!
Just tried keto lifestyle for a day and it really did great..from 368 sugar( thats with insulin and all the oral meds) ..this morning I have 272 ..still high but for just a day wirhout carb and sweet..its good enough
That is great! I am happy for you. I will try to get in touch with you tomorrow about meal planning and such. I have been pretty busy!
Thanks Bob.yes! As Newbie, there were some miss and hits..like ketchup in a Bbq i think has sugar and mint candies ginger flavor..it says sugarless but still has sugar..stuff like that..still learning the ropes ..it would be great to have that meal plans.
There is some flexibility too. You said some ingredients were sugarless, so they must contain some kind of artificial sweetener. That is controversial, but if you find that it does not spike your blood sugar, you may be able to use some artificial sweetener.
still going strong bob keep it up ..
Thanks Philip. Yep, I am doing my best!
very good too
Very interesting podcast with the founder of bulletproof.com discussing the relationship of bulletproof coffee and ketones

Bob, what is “grass fed butter” and where can I buy it?
It is butter that comes from cows that are only fed grass. To be honest, I don’t know of any place in the Philippines where you can buy it. I just use regular butter, but you are supposed to use grass fed. ๐
Thank you.
That had me puzzled as most cows round here eat grass. My imagination came up with a field full of blocks of butter chewing away at grass lol
Many cows grown on corporate farms are grain fed.
I had forgotten about that. We only have reasonable sized herds round here, although they spend some time indoors during winter.
They say anchor and kerrygold butter are certified grass fed butter
That is very good to know, Mumay. Thank you.
Bob Martin, Most of the butter from New Zealand, Australia, Denmark and Belgium is grass fed and can be found in most supermarkets here.
Thanks Randy!
HEY BOB, GO TO VITACOST.COM OR SWANSONVITAMINS.COM, BUY YOURSELF AMP-G STIMULATOR, AND RELORA. TAKE ONE OF EACH TWO TIMES A DAY……YOU WILL LOSE BODYFAT NO MATTER IF YOU DIET OR NOT. DIET AND EXERCISE DOES HELP THE PROCESS, BUT IS NOT NEEDED WHEN USING THESE TWO SUPPLEMENTS. VITACOST DELIVERS WELL TO THE PHILS, SWANSON TAKES A BIT LONGER. CHEERS.
By the way, i am not an affiliate of vitacost or swanson. this info is fully free of corruption.
Bob, Check out “4 Hour Body” on the net. The book is awesome and although the title is more about what is essentially 4 hours of intense workout over 3 or so weeks to build muscle, the Attraction and what made it famous is the diet, which allows one big cheat day per week to help avoid those plateaus, as helps body reset, and I know it works for me it’s easy because never looking to lose more than about 15-20 from powerlifting type body to leaned out depending on my training cycles. But I personally know Several people who lost around 50 -60 and kept it off. Gotta like beans, eggs and Lot of protein and veggies. If you add the suggested supplement “PAGG stack”. (Policosonal, Alpha Lipo Acid, Green Tea and Garlic caps) its even better. And you never get hungry from my experience. Just hard first 10 days while body switches to ketosis for energy. No afternoon slumps or anything. And it’s simple because you can eat about the same thing every day if u wish, as I do about85%. Anyway, check it out.
And the other add in I use is downing a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon chased by water every morning and before any simple carbs on cheat day to temper down the insulin response. Just don’t inhale the powder! Accidentally did that once when coughed at wrong time. Talk about internal fire!
I assumed u where eating protein abd veggies ?
This article is about fasting, I don’t eat while fasting. When I eat, which is usually 2 days a week, I eat about 70% of my calories from Fat, 25% protein, and 5% carbs, or sometimes even zero carbs.
Interesting info Bob
Hey Bob, I also hit a plateau last few weeks after dropping 15 lbs over the last three months, about halfway to my goal. I’ll give your coconut oil coffee a shot.
Keep in mind, if you are eating carbs, the fats won’t help you lose though.
Pretty much given up carbs, just been lean meat and veggies.
Sounds like you need fat!
Great info out there on 500 calories a day combine with HCG injections significantly targets belly fat. Problem Her PI is even getting HCG prescribed, yet readily done so in Western countries for several purposes. One issue with fasting is that if your body senses its being starved, it will automatically turn down rate of metabolism. 4 Hour Body counters that perfectly.
Actually, while fasting your metabolism INCREASES significantly.
Initially Yes, which is why your intermittent fasting as highlighted in the UK diet generally works, because like 4 Hour Body, you are not letting it settle. Prolonged fasting however does cause an eventual slow down to try and conserve energy ….
“On average, the starvation response of the individuals after isolation was a 180 kCal reduction in daily total energy expenditure. 60 kCal of the starvation response was explained by a reduction in fat-free mass and fat mass. An additional 65 kCal was explained by a reduction in fidgeting. The remaining 55 kCal was statistically insignificant.[4]not after the initial response. “
On diff note, met a Swiss fella in RObinson’s mall coffee shop yesterday here Puerto Princess who use live Down your way and knows you… been PI about 20 yrs. I had hard time at first understanding name till my ears adjusted to accent and did not want be rude. Anyway chatted him up on retirement here and sounded like he’s heading to Dumaguete later in year.
James Campbell LOL, lots of people say they know me, I am not really sure who you met. I am not a fan of Dumaguete, but I hope he enjoys himself there.
James Campbell Lots of medical studies don’t agree that fasting of any type slows down the metabolism. It is working well for me so far.
I wish you best of luck Bob. In end, it’s your bod and gotta do what You choose.
I agree, James.. we all have to do what is best for us! Thanks for your support!
