I decided to stop fasting yesterday
My plan did not go as planned
Yesterday I was on day 9 of my current fast. These days, I really don’t set a number of days for a fast, I just play it by ear. If my body says I should stop fasting, I do. If something else comes up that makes me want to eat, I do it. I am flexible.
Yesterday, my son, Chris was due to have a meal, but I intended to keep fasting. Chris fasts too, but he goes for a maximum of about 5 days at a time. So, it was time for him to have a meal. When he woke up he asked me if I also intended to eat, and I said no, I would keep fasting. Chris asked me if I would eat with him.
It is hard for me to say no, and I figured that I had already been fasting for nearly 9 days, so why not? If it meant some family time with my son, and he would enjoy me eating with him, it is well worth it.
But, it didn’t happen as planned
I cooked a Keto friendly meatloaf. I also had a nice green salad. It looked like a great meal! I was excited to enjoy it.
When I sat down to eat, I started in on the salad. It was a big salad, I always eat a large salad, I love salads. I ate around 1/3 of the salad before eating a few bites of the meatloaf. The meatloaf was super, very tasty. It is a recipe that we tried a month or so ago, and we liked it so much that Chris wanted that again for his latest meal.
I had taken what I thought would be a small serving of meatloaf, expecting that I would get seconds and it would still be a reasonable amount. However, after eating only about 1/3 of the meatloaf I had taken, I just could not eat anymore. One-third of the salad, and one-third of what I thought was just a first serving of meatloaf. I had to actually go lay down for a while because I had just overeaten to such a great extent.
I did not feel good, but I did
Yeah, looks like a typo, but that is very accurate. I did not feel good at all. Like I say, I had to go lay down.
But, I did feel good. Yep, it felt good to see that just a very small serving was all that I needed, and in fact, it was more than I needed or wanted. Next time, I have to remember to take less! I don’t remember ever eating such a small amount for my dinner!
It is a good sign
I feel this is a very good sign for the future, and I hope my portion sizes still stay in control and that I don’t allow myself to increase them over time!
