This morning when I checked my blood sugar it was a bit high! That is not normal, my blood sugar is almost always looking good. This morning, though, my Fasting Blood Sugar when I woke up was 164. My doctor has told me that reading at that level is not too concerning, but to me, it is because I normally don’t have readings that high. Usually, in the morning, I am seeing readings in the 120s or 130s, and seeing something around 160 concerns me.
I got thinking about it, though, trying to figure out what I ate that would have my sugar up to that level. Then it hit me. I ate some peanut butter last night. Some Philippine peanut butter. The peanut butter in the Philippines has sugar in it, and I forgot about that! American peanut butter either does not have sugar or has a very low level of sugar, and does not impact my blood sugar in a major way. Philippine peanut butter on the other hand? Well, let’s just say that I should not have eaten that peanut butter!
OK, well, it is not a major problem, 164 is not a disaster, but it is a good reminder to avoid Philippine peanut butter, especially in the evening. If I ate it during the daytime and I could have gone for a walk or something like that, not a big deal. But, better to avoid it altogether.
