Well, time is getting short, day 9 is done!
I had another good day for Day 9. Really not that much to report today, Day 9 was rather uneventful.
No real problems, no muscle pain, etc.
Today is a big day
Today I have an appointment with my Endocrinologist. It will be his first time to find out about my activities over the past couple of months. I last saw him on January 25, and a lot has changed since then. When I last saw him, my blood sugar was averaging in the 130 to 150 range, which he considered very good. Today, my blood sugar is running in the 80 to 100 range, even when I am eating! That is a big change in 2 months time!
When I saw Dr. Ho last, I was also using Insulin twice per day and using oral medication. Today, I am using no drugs or insulin, and I have much better control of the blood sugar.
Basically, today I consider my diabetes to be gone. We shall see what Dr. Ho thinks about it. I know he is going to be shocked, we just have to see if that is a shock in a negative way or a positive way. I know he did not think it would be possible. In December 2016 when I saw him, I told him that my goal was to no longer use Insulin by the end of 2017. I accomplished that goal on February 16, that was the last time that I used Insulin. He told me it was impossible for that to ever happen.
6 PM
Tonight at 6 PM I will complete 10 days of fasting. It has been a rewarding experience and one that I will do again. I will slowly break the fast over the next 24 to 48 hours, eating only small amounts to re-introduce food to my body. By Monday, I will go back into my 23/1 IF routine, eating 1 hour per day (dinner) and fasting for 23 hours per day.
Tomorrow I will report about the ending of the fast, and on my appointment with Dr. Ho.

For sure!

Right on Bob.

Thank you, George!

Amazing!! Congrats! Hopefully you will have positive feedback from your endo!!
Bob Martin
We shall see, Kate! I really am uncertain what to expect. Doctors here are different than in the US. The fact that I took my own initiative and did things other than what he recommended may offend him. I hope he looks at it as a way that he can help his other thousands of patients! He could change a lot of people’s lives!
Kate Kohlschmidt
You didn’t undertake this path casually! I hope that he can provide positive feedback!

I hope so too. What I really want is that a lot of other people suffering from diabetes can learn that the disease is reversible. We will have to see his reaction, though! 🙂 I will say, in the past he has seemed kind of interested in what I am doing to achieve the good results I have been getting over the past few years.

Well, at least he isn’t a US doctor. The doctors here would be too busy worrying about losing the kickbacks they get from Big Pharma for prescribing their drugs. At least most of the doctors over there haven’t been corrupted yet. (But, once they move here, OMG, do they make up for lost time. Some of the worst doctors in the US are from there; when that money bug bites, it bites them REALLY hard 🙁 )
From what I’ve learned, I think that, as long as the pancreas is still functioning, diabetes can be reversed. But, once it stops functioning, it’s a lot harder to reverse it, if it can be done at all.
As for your doctor’s reaction; being that he’s practicing over there, the odds are his reaction will be much more positive than our doctors over here, because, over there, they still care about each individual patient’s well being (like the way our doctors were pre-1960s).
Of course, like with most dealings with people, a lot will depend on whether his pride is wounded or not, but, from what you’ve been saying, he sounds professional enough that there shouldn’t be a problem.
Bob Martin
Believe it or not, fasting can kick-start the pancreas to get going again, that’s reversing diabetes even if the pancreas was no longer functioning.

Lazarus Long, I’ve had doctors in the Philippines right prescriptions without examining me and recommending procedures that were not needed.

Did I miss something? Last night I was commenting on Day 7, now it’s already day 9…I don’t THINK I slept through a whole day; nope, it’s only Friday here. Checking through the timeline,. it seems, somehow, FB delayed your Day 7 post 2 days and delivered it to me on what SHOULD have been your day 8 – never even SAW Day 8. That’s FB for you.
Bob Martin
Yesterday when you were commenting on day 7, others were already commenting on day 8th. It was not delayed on Facebook. You just missed it.
Lazarus Long
Day 8 still hasn’t showed up on my Timeline. I scrolled back through everything and it’s not there. So, when I was referring to the fasting, and lean times I was replying on (and referring to) Day 6’s post and yesterday I was replying on (and referring to) Day 7. Both of those posts had just come in. This FB account misses a whole lot of stuff, but, nothing about FB surprises me anymore. It’s like that very first post I replied to and commented about the dead link; there was no date, and it had just come in. The next day, it showed that the post was a few years old at the same time as your reply. This is why I’ll start to post something, then just delete the posts. I can’t even trust what’s showing up on my account any more…
Bob Martin
I will tag you on the post.
Bob Martin
Hmmm it won’t allow me to tag you Lazarus Long
Lazarus Long
That figures. FB has been messing with me since day one. My favorite thing is, like the day I logged off for three days, and, when I returned, FB had send three friend requests from my account. No, no one can hack my pw; the number of characters in it would take a computer three centuries to force crack it (but, after three wrong attempts, FB would lock the account)…
Anyway, time to get off the computer and clean things up…
Lazarus Long
Well, I found day 8 by going directly to your page; not sure why it’s the only post that didn’t show up on my feed. Only Mr Z knows the answer to that :p . Anyway, as soon as I finish this online course I have to get done I’m considering getting back on the diet. Gotta do something to make my clothes fit better before I head back over there :p Plus, I might actually be able to fit into the shirts my new family got for me before I left (they were the largest available over there).

After I did my fast years ago, I became vegetarian. I saw for myself that what you eat has a big affect on your body. I also discovered that doctors know little about nutrition. Fasting is a way for the body to restart and set a path to healthy living. Many people associate fasting with starving, but that is not correct.
Was you fast a water fast or juice fast? Congratulations on your new life.
Bob
Hi Kevin – I don’t plan to become vegetarian, but I will include more vegetables in my diet, and make some other changes too. Mostly I did a water fast, but I would also drink things like coffee and tea.
