Feasting is part of the Fasting Process
When it is feasting time enjoy it!
On Sunday, I broke a 10 day fast. I had been fasting since Thursday of the prior week. Well, that is a bit complicated to a phrase, let’s just say I had been fasting for 10 days. No food for 10 days. Water and Coffee. Nothing else. Since feasting is part of fasting, it was time for my feasting period.
Feasting day came on Sunday afternoon. Before bed, I ate 2 meals and resumed fasting at bedtime on Sunday. I really did enjoy my feast. Feasting is part of fasting, and you should enjoy your feast because you have earned it by doing the hard work of fasting!
Our feasting day
I say “our” feasting day because my son, Chris, had been fasting with me. Chris fasted for 4 days. Chris really does look forward to feasting day, he also enjoys fasting. He enjoys both because feasting is part of fasting. You get a reward for the work you have done, it is something you have earned.
Our feasting day started out with 3 eggs each. I ate my eggs fried (fried in coconut oil) and Chris had his eggs scrambled in coconut oil. Later, when it was dinner time we had a pork roast and a green salad. The dinner was really delicious. We enjoyed it immensely.
Back to Fasting on Monday
After dinner on Sunday, Chris and I went right back to fasting. So, when I woke up on Monday morning, I was already halfway through Day 1 of my current fast. Chris is already asking me what I think we should eat for our next feasting day. As I said, feasting is part of fasting, and we take advantage of it.
I don’t usually set a firm number of days for a fast. I used to do that, but now, while I might have a target in mind, I am flexible about it. It is my goal to do longer fasts right now, I am flexible. In my mind right now is that I will go for 10 days again, but if I decide to stop earlier than that, I don’t have a problem with it.
I have no problem with Chris fasting for a shorter period either. Chris weighs in now about 170 pounds. When he started doing fasting a couple months back, Chris was 210, so he has lost 40 pounds in just a couple of months. He still enjoys fasting a lot, maybe because feasting is part of fasting, and the feasting is something he plans all the time. He looks forward to his reward.
Is feasting a cheat day?
So, many are probably wondering if we eat a lot of bad stuff on feasting day. Do we cheat with things that we are not supposed to eat?
No way!
We are strict about what we eat. I believe strongly in a Ketogenic style of eating. Ketogenic eating means Low Carb, High Fat, and Moderate Protein. We follow that strictly.
Am I saying that I will never eat non-ketogenic foods? No, not at all. Someday, when I have achieved my goal, I will be more flexible in what I eat. But for now, when it happens that feasting is part of fasting, I still stick to the things that have healed me in so many ways.
Feasting is part of fasting. Cheating is not, though. Especially if you are still striving for a goal, which I am.
I am feeling great. I am losing weight. Right now, I am at 208 pounds. My peak weight was 430. I hope to be at less than 200 pounds within 2 weeks or so. If I don’t make it in that time, that is OK, because I know it will happen, and this is not a race.
Feasting is Part of Fasting, and I am Fasting now
Yep. Feasting is part of Fasting. I love Fasting. I also love Feasting when that time has come.

Hi Bob I understand the Ketogenic diet but I was kinda shocked at the picture you posted here. I am not religious but I do agree with not eating pork but for health reasons. I do eat the odd bit of bacon once or twice a month if that. Its hard not to eat pork here in the Philippines but if you check up on the health reasons not to you may wish to avoid it. I know its not easy for find good steak here and have to buy the expensive imported steak. I eat imported lamb which is not quite as expensive. I can afford to buy imported meat as I am on a 90% plant based diet due to my illness. The picture looks good and makes my mouth water.

If you believe in a ketogenic lifestyle, Pork is one of the healthiest things you can eat. Lots of saturated fat. Perfect for keto.
Pork is a mainstay of my diet. It has worked well for me.

I eat 99% a fat based diet.. when I fast (majority of the time) my body lives off of my body fat. LoL

Bob Martin Sorry Bob beg to differ. Full of parasites and many weird bacterial illnesses can be attributed to pork meat that are never found in other meats. Pigs are classified as scavengers they eat their own young and faeces and anything else that comes their way as doo sharks, lobster, prawns and many other see creatures and also vultures and hyena’s.

You are free to your opinion, I have no problem with that. I am as well. I eat a lot of pork (when I do eat), and it has not affected me negatively. If you feel it is not good for you, no problem at all. I feel differently about myself. No issue to me.

I should note that animal fats (fish are best) are best used to create testosterone. It helps build and keep muscle, it’s why animal fats are so important. In the case of pork, lol, theres alot! and easy to get in the Phils. Sure there are cleaner meats but when in the Philipinnes, do as the filipinos do!

Philip Halbrook I have always liked Pork, no matter where I lived. ๐
